AP Chemistry Greenback Night Presentation
Honors Chemistry Greenback Night Presentation
My name is Elisa Compton, and I am very excited to be working with the amazing staff and students at CT Johnson High School. I received a degree in Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma in 2002. I finished a Masters in Chemical and Life Sciences from the University of Maryland in 2018.
After several years of tutoring and volunteering in schools, I decided to go back to school to get a teaching certificate from UTSA. I joined the staff at Johnson High School during the 2014-2015 year. Since then, I have taught Honors Chemistry, Advanced Placement Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, and Advanced Placement Biology. I have enjoyed taking College Board AP training in both Biology and Chemistry along with professional development in materials science, geology and paleoclimatology. I have a focus on science literacy in my classes, looking at how to analyze news reports and internet sites for accuracy. My varied science background allows me to pull in concepts to enhance a class—for example, I’ll use examples from Biology to illustrate concepts in chemistry.
The chemistry team works very closely to ensure all of our students are well prepared for the challenge of AP science classes. Please feel free to contact me at any time. The fastest way to contact me is ecompt@neisd.net. Another way to keep in touch with the class and your student’s assignments is through Google Classroom. I use Google Classroom extensively for assignments and to post notes and resources for my students. Your student will automatically be rostered to Google Classroom by NEISD.
Please email me to be invited to get a weekly summary of the student's activity. I look forward to working with you to support your student’s success!
