Welcome to UT OnRamps/AP Biology...My name is Oscar Velasquez and I will be your Guide, Jedi Master, Instructor, and Professor for the course.  This year will be my 21st year teaching and 19th year teaching AP/Dual Credit Biology BUT my 3rd year Teaching UT OnRamps Biology.  I started my teaching career at Reagan High School but moved to Johnson when it opened its doors in 2008.  I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (Hook'em Horns) with a BS in Molecular Biology and a MA in Science Education.  Additionally, I am part of only a few Certified Master Science Teachers in the District.  I am married to a beautiful and cerebral Baylor Bear Christine Velasquez, who used to teach at Johnson but now teaches at Piper High School for Comal District...I have three amazing kids/offspring Ellie, Lucas, and Darwin.  

In my free time (not much during the school year) I enjoy watching Football (Go Horns, Go Cowboys) and Basketball (Go Spurs Go).  I also enjoy collecting comics, listening to music, watching movies, and reading non-fiction material (all things science).  I am a huge "Star Wars" fan ("Empire Strikes Back and Rogue One" are my favorites) and a Marvel Studios Fan ("Avengers Infinity War and Endgame" favorite BUT also Avengers: Assemble and New Spiderman Movies...Overall SuperHero Fan).  My favorite shows are "Parks & Rec" (sad it ended already), "Rick and Morty", "Star Wars Rebels", "Game of Thrones", "The Simpsons", "X-Files" (Classic), Stranger Things (EPIC), The Umbrella Academy, The Last of Us, Ted Lasso, The Bear, Avatar (Animated Show), and Attack on Titan.  My favorites Bands are The Cure, Postal Service, Modest Mouse, Weezer, Cat Power, The Shins, Explosions in the Sky, Death Cab for Cutie, Stars, and all things 80's...just to name a few.
