Ms. Ruth Kimmell
Welcome!!
My name is Ruth Kimmell and this is my 16th amazing year at Johnson HS!! I am so fortunate to be part of this Jaguar family. I was originally a Special Ed co-teacher, then joined the Social Studies department in 2014. I am originally from the Washington, DC area, (Potomac, MD), and have lived in San Antonio for 29 years as part of the Johnson HS community.
My first profession was in Marketing, earning my degree from University of Maryland. I started substitute teaching when my youngest started kindergarten and ultimately decided to go back to school and earn my teaching certification. I really enjoy being around kids and have four of my own..2 having graduated from Johnson.
On weekends you can find me spending time with my 9 year old granddaughter, at the gym, or exploring San Antonio. I love to travel when given the chance, especially loved Europe and hoping to go back soon. Anywhere beach is the next best thing..and I love Michigan for a summer getaway.
I am excited to be teaching your students about World Geography. It is my pleasure to get to know them and encourage them to get the most out of their high school experience by getting involved.

Experience: Starting 15 years at Johnson HS. First 5 years in Special Education. Have taught and/or co-taught World Geography, Government, Economics, World History, Philosophy, and Sociology and US History. Currently teaching Pre-Ap World Geography.
