Grading Procedures for Honors Algebra 2

Grades are based on the number of points you earn and are weighted.

Your Term grade will be:

  • 5% - Daily Work
  • 35% - Quizzes
  • 60% - Tests

Your Semester grade will be:

  • 40% - Quarter 1
  • 40% - Quarter 2
  • 20% - Final Exam

Daily Assignments: This includes DLC’s, test reviews, in-class activities and select homework assignments.   You are responsible for completing your own homework and asking questions (see tutoring schedule) if you have any.  Your daily work grade is based on both effort AND accuracy.  You must show all work, as demonstrated in class, in order credit.

DLC: DLC stands for "Daily Learning Check." Almost every day you will have a 2-5 question mini-assessment based on your homework from the previous class. (You may use the homework to help you on the DLC.) DLC’s will take 5-10 minutes to complete, depending on the number of problems. DLC's count as a daily grade. You may NOT retake DLC’s to earn a higher grade.

Quizzes: You will usually be notified of quizzes in advance. There will be one or two quizzes in each unit, usually given about once a week. You may NOT retake quizzes to earn a higher grade.

Unit Tests: Unit Tests will be given approximately every 2 - 3 weeks.  You will always be notified of unit tests in advance, and you will be given a test review about a week before the day of the test. Answers to the test review will be posted in Google Classroom so that you may check your answers. If you find that you are struggling with any part of the test review, it is in your best interest to visit with your teacher during tutoring to get the help that you need. If you fail a test, you may retake the test. Please see our policy on test retakes.

Please reach out to your teacher if you are struggling with material. Tutoring times are posted in Google Classroom, on the teacher website, and on the door of your teacher’s classroom. (You have also been given a physical copy of your teacher’s tutoring times.
