Mrs. Laurel J. Dixon

Mrs. Dixon began teaching in 1999 where she taught for nine years at the same high school in Central Texas, teaching English, Journalism and Photography concurrently with advising an award winning yearbook and newspaper.  Mrs. Dixon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education with a concentration in Gifted and Talented education, both from Texas State University. She has been teaching at Johnson High School since October of 2015.

Additionally, Mrs. Dixon earned a Master of Divinity degree from Austin Seminary in 2011.  After earning her degree, she became an ordained minister and board certified chaplain where from 2011-2015 she worked as a professional chaplain for both hospitals and hospices.  She enjoys cooking and baking, volunteer work, movies, writing, reading, playing board games, and photography.  Recently, Ms. Dixon has welcomed to her home two foreign exchange students into her family; one this past spring semester of 2025 and one this current school year of 25-26.  The whole family loves to hang out with Mrs. Dixon's cat, Mabel Jane.
