Ms. Kiyanna Sirai Zachary

Hello! My name is Kiyanna Sirai Zachary and I am the American Sign Language teacher at Johnson High School. I became eager to learn ASL while in middle school as I realized there was only ONE Deaf student enrolled. We became the best of friends and the rest has been history. In May 2021, I graduated from Clemson University as the only Black woman to receive the Gallaudet/Clerc Award in American Sign Language. This award is given to a student who has demonstrated outstanding expressive and receptive skills in American Sign Language both on and off campus. At Clemson, I had the honor of signing The National Anthem and Clemson's Alma Mater amongst my colleagues at the annual homecoming football game. I have completed many internships working with Deaf students and Educational Interpreters. In July 2022, I had the honor of moving here to San Antonio, Texas and becoming a member of the Johnson family. I am excited to be here to share my talents and bring more awareness to American Sign Language. Go JAGS and CLEMSON TIGERS!!!

Building Confidence One Sign At A Time! ♥
