  • A TI-NSpire CX graphing calculator is highly recommended. You may purchase your own, but we will always have a class set for in-class assignments. For work to be done at home, you may use the free, online DESMOS graphing calculator.

 Class Policy:

  1. Expectations: (the five P’s):  I expect every student to Participate (100%), to be Prompt (ready to work when the bell rings), to be Polite (respectful and supportive of classmates and teachers), to be Prepared (have supplies and assignments), and to be Productive (work hard, stay on-task, ask questions, and help others).
  2. Late/Make-up WorkGOOD ATTENDANCE IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESS! We always post a video recording of each day’s lesson. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to watch the video and take notes. You must also access the assignment for the day. According to district policy, if you are out of class on school business or you have an excused absence, you will have the same number of class periods that you missed to make up the assigned work without penalty.  If the absence is unexcused, the work will be considered late.  In accordance with district policy, a 20% deduction from the total grade earned will be taken for late assignments.  Assignments may be turned in late until the day of the unit assessment.  If you miss a DLC, a quiz or a test, you need to be prepared to take the assessment upon return to class. Students should make prior arrangements with teachers for making up missed work when the absence can be anticipated, e.g., a dental appointment, court appearance, approved school-related activities, etc.
  3. Retakes: You may retake tests to improve a test grade of 69% or below.  In order to retake tests, you must first complete all related missing assignments, submit test corrections during tutoring, then a retest will be scheduled.  If you score higher on a retake than the original, you will receive the retake grade up to a max of 70%.  If you score lower on the retake, the retake grade will be discarded.  You may retake each test (by the deadline) only once, so be sure that you are prepared! NOTE: There are NO RETAKES on quizzes.
  4. Tutoring: Help is always available.  You may come in for tutoring on the days listed on the tutoring schedule.  If you need math help and I am not available, you may also go to any of the other Algebra 2 Honors teachers for help. (An alternative tutoring schedule is posted for you to check the teachers.)
  5. Honesty Policy:  All quizzes, tests, and projects (unless otherwise instructed by me) are to be completed individually.  Any student caught copying/cheating or using an unapproved electronic device during an assessment will receive a zero for that assessment.  It is okay to work with other students on the practice assignments (classwork & homework) as long as each student is actively working on each of the assigned problems.

**All School Policies & Consequences will be enforced.  See your student handbook for more details.
