NEISD JROTC Programs Earn Top Marks

Veteran's Day ceremonies and parades make November one of the busiest months of the year for North East ISD JROTC programs.

This year, however, was made even more so with the addition of what is known as the JROTC Program for Accreditation (JPA) visit by the United States Army Cadet Command. The JPA is a top-to-bottom review conducted every three years to ensure compliance with national accreditation standards.

"The JPA is a detailed look at instructor qualifications and performance, adherence to curriculum, cadet performance and compliance with regulatory standards," said Colonel William LaChance, NEISD Director of Army Instruction.

During the JPA, cadets must give a presentation to the evaluators demonstrating knowledge and application of the curriculum.

"It's a nerve-racking process for many cadets, taking several months to prepare for," added LaChance.

US Army command visits Roosevelt HS for JPAThis inspection was even more challenging this year with the addition of Army audit teams to evaluate the inspectors and the process. From our District JROTC office to every campus, inspection teams and auditors descended with checklists in hand.

When the process was complete, the District office received a perfect score, and all programs were awarded Honor Unit with Distinction status, the highest rating possible for a JPA evaluation.

"This is a testament to the hard work and quality of our instructor teams and cadets. We are grateful for all the support JROTC receives from our District and across all our campuses. It's a team effort. We set conditions for success and our cadets do the rest. We couldn't be more proud of them," said LaChance.
