My name is Jose Hector Cano. I go by my middle name, Hector. I am originally from El Paso, Texas but have lived in San Antonio for almost as long. I am a retired Air Force Veteran and am a graduate of both Wayland Baptist University and the University of The Incarnate Word.

This year marks my 11th year of teaching across four schools, at the collegiate, high school, and middle school levels. I have also had the great opportunity to teach across multiple disciplines. This also marks my 18th year of coaching, having coached at the semi-professional level in Europe and at the Division I collegiate level at the United States Air Force Academy, as well as at the high school and club levels in both Texas and Colorado. This year will mark my second year at MacArthur High School, and I'm extremely excited to be a Brahma and help lead a program with such a rich soccer history. Last year proved to be a special year for our program, having had our winningest season in a decade and winning a state playoff game for the first time in eight years. Prior to MacArthur, I was at Saint Mary's Hall where I was the Director of Athletics Media & Sports Performance, Director of Soccer, Head Varsity Women's Soccer Coach. While there, I had the fortunate pleasure of working with many great student-athletes and received many honors, having qualified for the TAPPS state playoffs all seven years, two Bi-District and Area titles, a Regional title, and a berth in the 2017 TAPPS State Tournament. I have a passion for "The Beautiful Game" of soccer and consider myself a lifelong learner of the game as I hold a National "B" and National Youth License from the U.S. Soccer Federation, along with Director of Coaching, Premier, and Goalkeeper Level III diplomas from the United Soccer Coaches Association.   

I am truly blessed to have been married for 18 years to my lovely wife, Lara, and we are equally blessed with two beautiful daughters, Salma and Selina.
