Mr. Kevin Coombs

Hello!  Welcome to all the new and returning Defenders.  I truly hope you had an adventurous, but also relaxing break.  I will be teaching classes for Math Acceleration, 6th grade Math and 8th grade Athletics.  I am also coaching 7th Football, 7th "B" Basketball, and Track. 

My name is Kevin Coombs and I am a new teacher to Driscoll and am excited to be here.  My background includes 14 years in the US Navy and teaching in three different school districts in San Antonio, TX.  I left the military in 2011 and was almost immediately hired by Judson MS in Converse (Eastern SA).  I taught 6th Science for one year and left teaching for a year to figure out if this is what I truly wanted to do.  I dabbled in real estate and continued substitute teaching to keep my "feet wet".  I was then fortunate to get hired as a 6th Math teacher at Bush MS from 2013 to 2016.  I taught US History (2016-17) and 6th Math (2017-2020) at Dolph Briscoe MS in the Alamo Ranch area of town (NISD).  I decided that I wanted to make a change to get more experience in the athletic coordinator realm, so I returned to Bush MS from 2020-2023.

I am married to my beautiful wife, Amy, for the past 20 years.  We have three beautiful daughters:  Kylie (19), Brooke (16) and Alexandria (15).  I originally grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Braun Station ES, Coke Stevenson MS and John Marshall HS in 1992.  

 I look forward to being a role model and mentor to your children and wish everyone a "safe" and "exciting" school year.
