Mrs. Tanya Buckley

I am delighted to be starting my fourteenth year teaching English, and my sixth year at MacArthur! I have taught English I, II, III, IV, English I Honors, English I GT/Honors, Pre-AP English I and II, AP Literature and Composition, and AP Seminar over the years. I am thrilled that I will be helping 9th graders build their foundational skills this year.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from North Carolina State University; worked 12 years in management, recruiting, and as a Human Resources Manager before going back for my teaching certification and beginning my second career as an educator.

I love language, literature, and learning! I believe that literacy is the key to success and am dedicated to facilitating a love of learning, reading, writing, and thinking in my students so they will be lifelong learners and critical thinkers. My most important role is assisting my students with discovering their passions, valuing their unique insights and voices, supporting their literacy growth, and helping them to develop into literate and productive contributors to society.  

I enjoy reading; spending time with my family and my dogs; road cycling; working on home improvement projects; and traveling.
