Hector Trevino - Director of Bands

Hector Trevino is in his first year as Director of Bands at Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas.     

He is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and is currently pursuing a masters degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas at San Antonio. His experiences working with multiple instrumental and vocal ensembles in San Antonio has given him a different perspective on his approach to teaching band. Mr. Trevino has written pieces for several ensembles in addition to being a marching band arranger.

​Prior to joining the MacArthur family he led the Luther Burbank High School Band program from 2016 until 2021. Under his direction the band earned many consecutive sweepstakes. The marching band qualified for UIL area finals for the first time in their district’s history, and the wind ensemble earned many accolades including being selected as one of three featured bands from the state to perform at the 2021 TMEA convention. From 2012 to 2016 he served the John Greenleaf Whittier Middle School Band program as their Director of Bands.

​Mr. Trevino is an active member of TMEA and has served as a convention clinician, UIL adjudicator, as well as a conductor for ATSSB Region Band. Other memberships include the Texas Band Masters Association, the Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
