Sisters hold toy drive to honor loved one #theNEISDway

Madison and Brooklyn at RMHC San Antonio

The Ronald McDonald House holds a special place in Madison Giardino’s heart.

Madison and her twin sisters, London and Brooklyn, moved to Baltimore with her entire family so London could receive treatment for brain cancer at Johns Hopkins. The Giardino’s spent eight months living at Ronald McDonald House facilities in Baltimore and New York until London lost her battle with cancer in 2012.

The experience impacted her greatly. So much so that for the past four years, she has organized a holiday toy drive benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio. This was the first year the donation stemmed from the nonprofit ‘Love for London,” which Madison started to honor her sister’s memory.

“It is our mission to provide resources and support to children with childhood cancer,” said Madison. “Our annual toy drive is my favorite time of year. It makes me happy to be able to give back to the children and their siblings staying in the House and hospital."

Madison is now a senior at MacArthur High School and her sister Brooklyn is a seventh grader at Bradley Middle School
