Originally from California, I attended California State University, Fresno where I majored in Linguistics and minored in Japanese. As part of my studies, I spent a semester in Ibaraki, Japan. After I graduated from university, I moved abroad to live in Japan for three years where I taught English as a foreign language to Japanese students in both elementary and middle school. I spent one year teaching in Nagasaki and two years teaching in Gunma. After returning to the United States, I moved to San Antonio to teach Japanese in North East ISD. This is my fifth year teaching at Madison High School.
