Mr. David Holmes
Welcome to Madison High School and the 2024-25 school year! I'm David Holmes. I was born and raised just outside of Boston, Massachusetts. I struggled a lot in high school and barely graduated from Milford High School way, way back in 1984. I briefly went to Worcester State College before joining the US Air Force in 1987. It took a while, but I finally earned a BA in English from the University of Maryland in 2001. In 2017, I earned my teaching certification and here I am today.
For 25 years, I had the adventure of a lifetime until I retired from the Air Force in 2012. In the 1990s, I was stationed in San Antonio and fell in love with it! However, the military forces you to move ... so move I did. I am fortunate to have visited most of the states in the US and have been to 42 countries, including living in Germany, South Korea, Greenland, Kuwait and the United Kingdom. When it came time to retire, I headed back to SATX and became a teacher!
World Geo is my jam! I love to teach it because I’ve personally seen a lot of this amazing world of ours ... and my goal is to see it all! I hope my experience, my stories and my enthusiasm for learning and teaching make this a fun, challenging and rewarding course for students!
I pride myself on putting grades in Skyward immediately and having a well organized Google Classroom. I do not wait to enter grades as they are a form of communication and students should know their current status. As for Google Classroom, ALL materials and assignments will be posted there; so, if your student missed class, they will have access to the material.
I am in room M104 and teach periods 1, 2, 4 and 6 - 8. My conference is 3rd period, which falls between 10:50 AM and 11:40 AM most days. Feel free to text me to arrange a parent/student-teacher conference.
