Welcome to the home of the Maverick Battalion - Army JROTC. My name is Lieutenant Colonel Scott Koast, and I am excited to serve as the Senior Army Instructor for James Madison High School. I am a ROTC graduate from Marshall University and a 27 year veteran of the Army, having served at locations around the country and the world. Some highlights from my career include a tour of duty at the United States Military Academy at West Point, serving with the 82^nd Airborne Division, leadership positions from the Platoon to Battalion levels of command, two tours of duty in Hawaii, and most recently, serving with U.S. Army North at Fort Sam Houston.  I am extremely confident that James Madison High School will continue the proud JROTC tradition that has become the North East ISD standard.

The mission and vision of the Maverick JROTC program aligns itself directly with the U.S. Army Cadet Command: “Providing a quality citizenship, character, and leadership development program, while fostering partnerships with communities and educational institutions.” Our standing mission is “To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens”.  Our program will help set the foundation for young people to make good decisions, give back to their community, and prepare for their futures. We will accomplish this through excellent communication, dedication, and teamwork. GO MAVERICKS!
