Meet Madison High School's Questbridge Scholar!

Fayad Haghamed and his mother smiles with his mother

Madison High School senior Fayad Haghamed has a lot to celebrate!

He recently found out he earned a full four-year Questbridge Scholarship worth over $200,000 to attend Princeton University. That scholarship will cover tuition, housing, books, food and more.

While Fayad is excited to make a difference in the world, he’s already made a difference at Madison High School. Counselor Alyson Moyer says she’s one of the most incredible people she has ever met.

“Every time I see him, he makes my day and reminds me of all the good in the world,” said Moyer. “Fayad has a wisdom and genuinely creative spirit beyond that of a typical 17-year-old. I am excited to see his life journey expand, and I am hopeful for the world as he continues to grow his impact.”

Fayad and his family moved to the United States amid the war in Darfur. He still feels strong ties to Sudan and hopes to one day return to utilize his education in engineering and help establish solar power as a stable source of electricity in the country.

Congratulations, Fayad!
