B.F.A - Theatre: Directing

Mr. Jaime Honeycutt

I was born in Midland, Tx, but moved to a small town outside of Waco when I was about 7 years old. I grew up in that small town and moved to the Central/South Texas area when I was 16, where I went to High School at Hays High.

I started doing Theatre when I was about 10 years old. My first production was a community childrens productiong of "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe." by C.S. Lewis... I immediately fell in love with theatre. I continued the pursuit of theatre throughout Junior High and High School, where I participated in UIL, winning several awards including Best Actor.
My College years I went to Temple College where I started learning more and more about the Technical side of theatre, and where I worked at the same community theatre where I began my journey 8 years previously. I then transferred to Texas State where I dove into Directing, both for film and for the stage. I graduated from Texas State in 2013 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Theatre Productions, with an emphasis in directing.

Before I got my teaching certificate, I worked on several TV Shows and movie sets in Austin, pursueing to be a film maker. While doing filmwork, I also began working for a non-profit theatre company in New Braunfels, (New Braunfels Performing Arts), where I really started directing full musicals and shows all year long, where we put up about 5/7 shows a year. I built up an amazing relationship with the company, the community and mostly the young actors and actresses that were in my shows. When Texas production of films started to wind down in 2014, I decided to get my teaching certificate. I began teaching in 2014 at Friendswood Middle School. I loved the faculty and staff and my wondeful students there. It was a perfect first year for a new teacher. After a few years there I decided to relocate home to be closer to my family, where I started teaching at my Alma Mater, Hays High School.

After my two years at Hays I decided that I wanted to move to the community that I loved and needed to be around more, so I relocated to New Braunfels and decided that I needed to get a job closer to home, and I found myself here at Madison. I am excited to return to my 3rd year at Madison and am ready to get back into the swing of things. I am excited that this year will be full of interesting challenges and feel that with the support of my Fine Arts team and Madison's fantastic administration along with the leadership at NEISD, this year will be great.

In my free time, (when I have free time)  I love to golf though I'm not really that great, I am an avid poker player, and I am pretty great. I love to  watch baseball and hockey, cook, play board and video games, work on my Real Estate Business and  hang out with my friends and family, and relax at home with my wonderful wife, Ashley and 3 year old Liam, we are expecting a baby girl sometime around the first of October, so we're very excited for that!
