Mr. David Holmes

Welcome, Mavericks, to the Madison High School 2023-24 school year!

I'm David Holmes.  I was born and raised in Milford, Massachusetts, which is about an hour away from Boston.  I struggled and barely graduated from Milford High School way, way back in 1984 and briefly went to Worcester State College before joining the US Air Force in 1987.  For 25 years, I had the adventure of a lifetime until I retired in 2012.  In the 1990s, I was stationed in San Antonio and fell in love with it. However, the military forces you to move ... so move I did.

I am fortunate to have lived in South Korea, Germany, England, Greenland and Alaska.  I deployed to Saudi Arabia, France and Kuwait and have visited countless other countries.  When it came time to retire, I headed back to SATX and became a teacher!  World Geo is my favorite subject to teach because I’ve personally seen a lot of this beautiful planet ... and my goal is to see it all!. I hope my experience, my stories and my enthusiasm for learning make this a fun, challenging and rewarding course for you!

I pride myself on putting grades in Skyward immediately and having a well organized Google Classroom.  I do not wait to enter grades as they are a form of communication and students should know their current status.  There will be times when teachers are not allowed to update Skyward ... outside of that, what you see on Skyward should be accurate and up to date. As for Google Classroom, ALL assignments will be posted there; so, if your student missed class, they will have access to the material.

I am in room M104 and teach periods 1 - 3 and 6 - 8.  My conference is 4th period, which falls between 11:45 AM and 12:35 PM most days.  Feel free to text me to arrange a parent/student-teacher conference.
