Hello, my name is Mr. Stewart. I am the AVID elective teacher and coordinator here at Roosevelt. I am proud to say I have been teaching at Roosevelt the entire time. Here is some background information. I am originally from Canada; however, I have lived in San Antonio, Texas, for over half my life. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.A. in History and Teacher Certification. I completed my M.Ed in Administration at Lamar University. It brings me great pleasure to continue teaching the AVID elective. As we move throughout the year, students will continue to forge relationships with their peers and me as they advance in their academic journey. ​

My job, as I see it, is to inspire, encourage, and motivate you through the components of the AVID curriculum. Considering that colleges and job markets are highly competitive, my mission is to enable you to have the necessary goals and tools in place to go beyond high school to succeed in college and become the absolute best you can be, someone who rises to the top and makes a difference in the field you choose. Dream, believe, and achieve... together, let’s enjoy the journey!
