(Welcome to Mrs. Tankersley's website!)
This is my second year teaching Spanish 2 at Roosevelt High School.
People often ask me how I became a Spanish teacher, since Spanish is not my native language. My dad was in the Air Force, and our family lived in Spain for 4 years when I was very young. This gave me an early appreciation of the culture and an interest in the language. We spent the rest of his military career at bases in California and Texas, but I never lost my interest in Spanish. I started taking Spanish classes in 8th grade and continued through high school. In college, I double majored in Spanish and English due to my love of language, reading, and writing. I also spent a semester in Seville, Spain, a wonderful experience that significantly improved my language skills. It was not until after graduating college and volunteering with the youth group at my church that I realized that I wanted to be a teacher. I went back to school for my education courses and student teaching experience and then began teaching in 2007. Over the past several years, I have taught Spanish 1 and 2 classes.
