My experience with Spanish began when I was very young. My dad was in the military, and our family was stationed in Spain for 4 years. Living in Spain gave me an appreciation of the culture and an interest in the language that continued long after we returned to the United States. I took Spanish classes from 8th-12th grade and then double majored in Spanish and English in college. Studying abroad for a semester in Seville, Spain was a wonderful experience that significantly improved my language skills. My long-time love of language, followed by a realization that I enjoyed working with teenagers, led me to pursue teaching. I started in 2007 and have been teaching Spanish ever since. In 2017, I got married and shortly afterward began teaching at Roosevelt. My husband and I have one daughter who was born in 2019.
