Mrs. Heesoo (Rachel) Kim
Hello, I'm an ESL teacher at Tejeda Middle School. I've been teaching for 5 years in schools in Texas mostly ESL students. I graduated from a university in South Korea, majoring in Biology, and wanted to become a lab technician. Ironically, I wanted to teach language to young students instead so I pursued a Master's degree in Linguistics from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. I met many people from different countries and enjoyed making friends with them. I found a lifelong teaching job after I earned my master of Arts in Teaching degree from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas in 2014, focusing on ESL and Teaching Reading for Early elementary to 6th grade. As you can assume how much I liked to become a teacher, teaching languages was my passion, calling, and joy. What amazed me the most was knowing students who are talented, unique, and gifted in various ways. I believe every kid will be successful if they put their mind to learning and exploring the world with the guidance of good teachers.
I have two daughters who both graduated from Tejeda MS and now is a sophomore and a senior at Johnson High school this year. I enjoy traveling to new places, going to the museum, trying out new foods, and most of all, I love to teach students reading. I'm excited to start this new year with anticipation of meeting our new Timberwolves, Go Timberwolf, Yay !!
