Mission
We challenge every student to excel and demonstrate the highest levels of leadership, academic excellence, technical skills, and responsible citizenship.
Vision
We believe that through a commitment to continual learning about our students, we can equitably provide for their individual growth in literacy as well as their social and emotional development.
Education Approach
Collective Commitments
1. Every teacher is engaged in a process to assess student learning on a timely and frequent basis through the use of teacher-developed common formative
assessments
2. Every teacher has a specific plan to ensure that students who experience initial difficulty in learning are provided with additional time and support for learning during the school day in a timely and directive way that does not cause the students to miss any new direct instruction
3. All professionals are organized into collaborative teams and are given the time and structure during their regular workday to collaborate with colleagues on specific issues that directly impact student learning
4. Every teacher receives frequent and timely information regarding the success of his or her students in learning the essential curriculum and then uses that information to identify strengths and weaknesses as part of a process of continuous improvement
5. Every teacher will commit to checking-in on all students' social and emotional
well-being.

History Hill is the outdoor learning area on the Tejeda Middle School campus. It began shortly after the school opened its doors in 2001 and has grown with the help of students, staff, parents, and other volunteers. Its naming and funds raised for its success have all been accomplished by Tejeda students.
History Hill was created with the aim of encouraging our students to experience learning in a 'hands-on' environment. This is where they can come sit inside a genuine teepee while learning all about Native Americans, or sit around a campfire next to the chuck wagon learning all about the cattle drives of long ago. Archeological dig boxes, Roman garden, prehistoric stone circles, and medieval stocks are some other centers that are used as beginning points for learning about the past.
History Hill is used by many other subject areas as it has two outside classrooms and a performance stage. Learning comes in many forms and History Hill has been found to offer students a place to hone their reasoning and deductive skills as well as encourage them to develop self-discipline and self-confidence. Problem-solving is a priority as they have learned to use their bodies as well as their minds by putting up the teepee or by building the cedar fence.
Please support our students' future efforts as they strive to improve History Hill.
