Hello!

Welcome to my math classroom C101. I am very excited to work with you and your family this year. 

Here is a little about my background. I am a native San Antonian. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) with my undergraduate’s degree in math. In addition, I graduated from Silver Lake College of the Holy Family with a master’s degree in special education. I have taught general education and special education classes in Texas, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma. I served in the United States Navy from 1990 - 1998. I am a parent to 4 children and two pets.

My passion is working with children and their families towards reaching their goals in math and beyond. I am super excited to include activities that foster Self-Determination (SD) skills in the math lessons and in the consultations that we will do together this year. It is my goal to provide you with greater opportunities to learn skills needed to ultimately take control of your learning and engage in goal-directed, self-regulated, and autonomous behavior.

Parents are always welcomed to partner with me and encourage their child to learn and demonstrate self-advocacy skills needed to help them make choices and develope a plan for their future. Here is how we can work together:

  • Help/show how to check grades on Skyward; check grades at least once a week.
  • Help/show how to check email; check email at least once a day every day.
  • Help/show how to check the Flex Schedule in Skyward to find WIN time placement (Thursdays before 3rd period.)
  • Help/show how to email teachers when your child has a concern or a question. NOTE: Encourage them to include parents/guardians in their email.
  • Help/show how to accept and participate in calendar invites to school meetings/consultations.
  • Help/show how access teacher webpages and Google Classrooms for important links or resources and supports.
  • Help/encourage conversations about future goals. 
  • Help/encourage your child to share what they learned during the school day.

    Algebra I Resource is for students receiving special education services whose ARD committee has determined that the student requires this course and will take the applicable EOC test. In this special education resource class, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills of the Algebra I curriculum are modified and vertically aligned to meet the individual needs of the student whose math skills are significantly below grade level.

    Algebraic Reasoning Resource:

    Algebraic Reasoning Resource is for students receiving special education services whose ARD committee has determined that the student requires this course. In this special education setting class, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills of Algebraic Reasoning are modified and vertically aligned to meet the individual needs of the student whose math skills are significantly below grade level.

    Geometry Resource:

    Geometry Resource is for students receiving special education services whose ARD committee has determined that the student is eligible. In this special education resource class, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills of the Geometry curriculum are modified and vertically aligned to meet the individual needs of the student whose math skills are significantly below grade level.

    Math Models Resource:

    Math Models Resource is designed to be a student's final math course in their math sequence. The major emphasis of this special education setting course is the operation of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions in practical life situations. The subject covered includes but is not limited to the following: personal finance, budgeting and banking.
