Ms. Barrera

Hi, my name is Ms. Barrera, and this will be my tenth year teaching Biology at Winston Churchill High School.

I was born here in San Antonio, and went to several schools in the Churchill Cluster.  I was an Oak Meadow Maverick, a Coker Cub, and would have been a Churchill Charger, but my family moved to three different states when I was in high school.

I have a lot of family here in San Antonio, but my closest family lives in Atlanta, Georgia. There, my Dad works for UPS, & my Mom is a high school Special Education teacher. My sister just graduated from the University of Georgia & my brother is a junior at UGA. I miss my family, but I see them as often as I can. I also have a wonderful two year old son named Dougie. We love to be outside and spent most of our free time this summer either in pools, tubing down local rivers with friends, on the lake, at the beach, or paddle boarding.

I went to college at the University of Delaware, where I studied abroad in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, & earned a Bachelor’s in Earth Science Education. I then went to the University of Texas at Austin, where I taught an Introduction to Petroleum Engineering Lab, and earned a Master’s in Science Education before moving back home to San Antonio.
