Serving Grades 9–12
Tradition of Excellence
Churchill High School is in the northern suburban area of San Antonio, Texas. A high percentage of the area’s residents are college graduates, including business people, professionals, and military personnel. Within the San Antonio area are 5 military bases, 8 colleges or universities, a medical complex with associated medical and health science schools, and a law school.
Winston Churchill High School is named after Sir Winston Churchill, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The school serves portions of the city of San Antonio along with the towns of Hill Country Village and Hollywood Park. It first opened for classes in 1966.
The school mascot is the Charger while the British Union Flag (also referred to as the Union Jack) and lion are used as additional symbols. The school was referenced in the 1996 movie Lone Star. The school's colors are Black, White, and Red.
The Washington Post and Newsweek Magazine have ranked Churchill High School one of the best high schools in the country. Churchill ranks in the top 1% of all high schools in the country; far ahead of most other area high schools. Our students earned passing scores on almost 60% of the AP tests taken which is well above the state passing rate and on par with the global passing rate. Principal Todd Bloomer is proud of our students' accomplishments along with the hard work and dedication of our teachers.
For the past eleven years, every Churchill graduate has been accepted into college! That's 100% of the graduates who have walked the stage, continuing their education!
