Hi, my name is Ms. Barrera, and this will be my eleventh year teaching Biology at Winston Churchill High School.

I was born here in San Antonio, and went to several schools in the Churchill Cluster.  I was an Oak Meadow Maverick, a Coker Cub, and would have been a Churchill Charger, but my family moved to three different states when I was in high school. 

I have a lot of family here in San Antonio! My Dad works for UPS, & my Mom was a high school Special Education teacher. My sister is getting her Masters at UTSA & my brother is a junior at UGA. I also have a wonderful three-year-old son named Dougie. We love to be outside and spent most of our free time this summer either in pools, tubing down local rivers with friends, on the lake, at the beach, or paddle boarding.

I went to college at the University of Delaware, where I studied abroad in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, & earned a Bachelor’s in Earth Science Education. I then went to the University of Texas at Austin, where I taught an Introduction to Petroleum Engineering Lab, and earned a Master’s in Science Education before moving back home to San Antonio.
