Ms. Kimberly Villarreal

I have been teaching at Bradley since 2006. I started teaching math and science for the first few years, but moved to art for my third year here. I enjoy experimenting with different materials and am constantly learning new techniques. I am a member of the Texas Art Educators Association, the Texas Classroom Teachers Association (Coordinating Council representative for Region 20 and NEISD Presient), the National Art Educators Association, San Antonio Leaders and Teachers, the San Antonio Art Educators Association (Webmaster), and the San Antonio Potters Guild, Native Plant Society of South Texas, and Fiber Artistsof San Antonio. I have many hobbies, including fire spinning and photography. I also sponsor the Art Club and the Garden Club. I have a little boy who will be nine this Christmas, the center of my world. We have many pets at our home, including a bunch of mice, three dogs, and numerous fish.

I look forward to helping students develop their artistic skills and enhance their ability to problem-solve and express themselves. This year, I am thrilled to bring Family Consumer Science back to Bradley! Students will learn about budgeting, nutrition, and sewing skills.  We will be keeping the class very hands-on, including growing some of the food they will prepare in our school garden.

Welcome to Art 1 for HS credit, and Family Consumer Science (FCS)!

My classes will continue to utilize Google Classroom and Artsonia this year. All art students will maintain a digital portfolio on Artsonia to document their growth in art. Our class project instructions, materials, and warm-ups will always be posted to Google Classroom for students to access. We encourage all families to follow their students on Artsonia to see their fantastic work and give them feedback.

We will have an Art Supply fee of $20 for all art classes. This is because we can bulk order for a better price on better quality supplies than at retail stores. This also helps with the problem of stores running short on critical items such as sketchbooks.

This year we will have a class set of most supplies needed. If you choose to have your materials so you do not need to share them with others, instead of the fee, please purchase the following: 9x12 mixed media sketchbook, art pencils, Oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal, markers, colored pencils, scissors, a ruler, a glue bottle, paintbrushes, watercolors, handheld sharpener and a container to keep all items except the sketchbook in. Additional materials may be needed for specific projects.

All slideshows, warm-ups, and contests posted in Google Classroom for students can also be found at the following link, allowing parents more access to materials: Ms. V's Art class page.
