Mr. Karlos Elizondo

Karlos Elizondo, a native of San Antonio and a product of NISD, is completing his 19th year of teaching. He received his formal education from Texas State University in 2005 and is in progress of receiving his Master’s degree. Prior to his arrival in North East ISD, Mr. Elizondo served as Grammar Hall Band Director at Regents School of Austin, where he worked with 5th and 6th grade bands. Mr. Elizondo also has extensive experience as a High School Band Director as well, serving as Asst. Band Director as Tom C Clark High School (Northside ISD), Director of Bands at McCollum High School (Harlandale ISD), and Assoc. Band Director and Choir Director at Burbank High School (San Antonio ISD). Mr. Elizondo has consistently led bands to Sweepstakes, Division 1 ratings, and consistently places in the top 3 at various competitions in and around Texas, both in concert band and jazz bands.

Mr. Elizondo began playing trumpet in 1st grade and has continued ever since. He has performed locally, nationally and internationally with various artists/groups, such as: The Temptations, The Four Tops, Frankie Valle & The Four Seasons, Tito Puente, Jr., Ruben Ramos, The Latin Breed, and The San Antonio Symphony, just to name a few. His performances have taken him all over the world to places such as: Switzerland, Ireland, Australia, Mexico, Italy, Czechoslovakia & various other places. Locally, Mr. Elizondo leads The Powerhouse Big Band and can be found performing regularly in and around San Antonio. Currently, Mr. Elizondo serves as the Lead Trumpet for the Doc Watkins Orchestra at Jazz, TX and also tours around the country with The GAP Band, playing Lead Trumpet and also serves as their music arranger.

Mr. Elizondo is married to Madeline Elizondo, who works and performs with Opera San Antonio. They have 2 kids, Amelie who is 9 and Karlos who is 6, their dog Roscoe P. Coltrane (English Bulldog) and their cat Lany (tabby).
