Degrees and Certifications:

B.A. Vocal Music Education, St. Olaf College

Melissa French-Stephenson

This is my 6th year as the proud director of the Bradley Choirs and my 33rd year working with middle school singers both as a choir director and private voice teacher. It is my goal every school year to provide a welcome and safe place for my singers where they can feel free to be themselves and experience the power of music through singing.

I am a 1991 graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where I had amazing choral experiences. Originally from Wisconsin, I am a die-hard Green Bay Packer fan and a proud stockholder of the team! However, I'm not a fan of the cold, so I have lived in Texas since graduating from college.

My husband, David Stephenson, is Coordinator of Fine Arts and Director of Bands in Alamo Heights ISD. Our sons, James and Sam, were both Bradley Bears! James is a Music Education Major at the University of Houston with plans to become a band director and Sam is a junior at MacArthur High School, where he is one of the drum majors of the band and also a member of the swim team. We are dog lovers and are happiest when we are hanging out together as a family. In my spare time I enjoy reading, working in my yard, binge watching a great series, and jogging with my Weimaraner.

It is truly a joy and privilege working with middle school singers and I can't imagine doing it at any other school in San Antonio!
