"I’ve learned a lot so far.”

Amada holds the NEISD way sign in the server roomAmada Hernandez is part of history at North East ISD.

The Legacy of Educational Excellence (LEE) High School incoming junior is part of the inaugural class of our world-renowned magnet, the Institute of CyberSecurity & Innovation (iCSI)

“I’ve always been into gaming and computers, so I thought it would be cool to be one of the first people to be a part of this program. I’ve learned a lot so far.”

This summer, she’s learning from the best and making history once again as part of the first group of paid student interns working alongside the NEISD Technology Services team. She’s learning from the best and broadening an already-impressive skillset, which includes a CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+) Certificate

“I thought this was a good chance to learn even more and stay busy,” said Amada. “It’s been cool to learn about the infrastructure in place here at NEISD. It’s like seeing it from screen to learning it in actual life.”

Amada is well on her way to starting a career in a field she’s passionate about. She’s grateful to NEISD for the opportunity. She also says she wouldn’t have said yes to iCSI without the support of her mother.

“She’s really proud of me and she would kill to be in the position that I am in now. It’s really cool because we’re getting a big head start. I know that I’m going down a good path.”

A good path that started right here at NEISD. You can learn more about iCSI and all the other magnet school programs offered here
