Wood students lead September board meeting

Invocation & Pledge of Allegiance

 Wood Middle School students honored at September 2022 board meeting

Two remarkable Wood Middle School students gave the invocation and pledge of allegiance at the regular meeting of the North East ISD Board of Trustees on Monday, Sept. 12. 

Eighth grader Arabella Hurlbut kicked off the meeting with a moving invocation. She is a leader in and out of the classroom at Wood. She takes honors classes, is part of the honor band and is also active in the theatre arts program. Arabella is also part of the Wrangler volleyball, basketball, cross country and track teams. She was joined at the meeting by her parents, Jacquelyn Anthony and Thomas Hurlbut. 

Sixth grader Rachael David led those in attendance in the pledge to the U.S. and Texas flags. She is part of the Gifted & Talented (GT) program at Wood and plays violin in the orchestra. She was joined at the meeting by her parents, Reynold David and Marlene Regis. 

2021 – 2022 Administrative Training Program Graduation

The next generation of NEISD leaders were recognized as graduating Administrative Interns by the Board of Trustees Monday night. 

Administrative Interns in this training program meet multiple times each month to discuss a wide variety of topics from budgeting to administrative leadership, data analysis, curriculum and more. The group also hears from the leaders of District departments who support educators on every campus. 

Congratulations to our 2021 – 2022 Administrative Training Program graduating interns: 

Jennifer Bazajou, Amy Chandler, Carrie Clewett, Roseann Esquivel, Melissa Flowers, Melissa Freund, Marisa Garcia, Lesley Garza, Denise Gonzalez, Alison Lee, John Paul, Victoria Reyes, Krishna Roe, Iris Villafana and Tammy Wickline. 

Election Day is now a student and teacher holiday

The North East ISD Board of Trustees voted to make Election Day – Tuesday, November 8 - a student and teacher holiday. This means our last day of school has been pushed back one day from Thursday, May 25, 2023, to Friday, May 26, 2023.
