Degrees and Certifications:
BS Kinesiology Science 4-8 PE k-12
I am very excited to enter my 20th year of teaching and my 6th year here at Wood Middle School. I am also starting my second year here as the Science Instructional Coach. Wood is such an amazing campus to be a part of! The staff, students and faculty work together for the common goal of student success.
I graduated from St. Mary's University here in San Antonio with a BS in Kinesiology. Right after graduation I began my teaching adventure. Over my middle school teaching years I have coached, taught PE, Science, and served as an Instructional Coach. I have been nominated by my fellow peers as a Golden spur teacher, Trinity Teacher of the year and Campus teacher of the year. I have served as a member of the campus Foundations Committee which strives to improve the overall culture of the campus and I was also the co-curriculum developer for our W360 classes.
Teaching is my passion, not just my job. I have worked with students of all abilites and unique talents. I believe that what we do as teachers is the foundation for the success of our students futures. I want to teach my students to believe in themselves, perservere, and most importanly LOVE learning!
As the instructional coach for the science department, I play a vital role in growing the capactiy of my teachers as well as all the students of Wood Middle school. I am able to create small groups of students to support them reach their full potentialbased on their individual academic needs. In these small groups I am able to help hone in on each students strengths and help identify any areas of improvement. It is a great part of my job as I get to know so many of our students on campus!
With this year being like none other we've had before, I know the key to success for students is open communication between the parents, the student and the teacher. Distance learning/blended learning will have its challenges, but through open communication I believe that together we will be able to guide our students to success. I do my best to keep parents in the loop on all the happenings of middle school, in my classroom and the science department. I understand how overwhelming it can be for both the student and the parents in middle school with so many teachers and classes. I want you to know that I am here for your students needs and will do what I can to help them be successful. I welcome your input throughout the year to best serve your student. I look forward to meeting your student and thank you for allowing me to be a part in their educational journey.
