Greetings!

My name is Mr. Jakob Villarreal and I'll be one of the fabulous ELAR teachers here at Wood Middle School. I'll be teaching 7th and 8th grade this year. This will also be my first year teaching. I have a Bachelor's of Arts in English- Writing and Rhetoric from A&M San Antonio, and I have a background in technical writing and fundraising. 

I live at home with my spouse and our four cats, and in my time outside the classroom I'm busy reading and writing in what spare time I can find for myself.

This school year I'm excited about introducing my students to the wonders of reading and writing at a deeper level than they have experienced thus far in their careers as students. We will be developing a routine of daily reading and writing practice to unlock the masterful writers that exist inside all of us. I'm a firm believer in the mantra of practice makes persistence, and I will be challenging all my students to be persistent in their reading and writing practice. 

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and having a successful and illuminating school year!
