Julissa Figueroa is from Carrollton, Texas, and graduated from R.L Turner High School in CFBISD. Desiring to teach music, she moved to San Antonio in 2015 and attended The University of Texas at San Antonio. Ms. Figueroa graduated in May of 2020 with her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in vocal music. She completed her senior year by student teaching at J. Marshall High School and Kuentz Elementary in Northside ISD.

During her time as an undergraduate, Ms. Figueroa was a member of the Honors College Program and was very involved in the music community. She studied voice as a mezzo-soprano under the instruction of both Linda Poetschke, and Dr. Susan Olson as well as participated as a member of both the UTSA Chamber Singers and Concert Choir. Ms. Figueroa traveled with these ensembles on various tours to cities such as San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Brownsville, and McAllen. From 2017-2019, she served as the undergraduate intern for the Children's Chorus of San Antonio and received the opportunity to conduct choral groups at the Tobin Center for Performing Arts. In the summertime, she served as a camp counselor for the UTSA All-State Choir Camp. This will be Ms. Figueroa's 4th year teaching Choir and 3rd year teaching Musical Theatre at Wood! Go Wranglers!
