Julissa Figueroa is a Texas native originally from Dallas. Desiring to teach music, she moved to San Antonio in 2015 and attended The University of Texas at San Antonio. Ms. Figueroa graduated in May of 2020 with her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in Vocal Music. 

During her time as an undergraduate, Ms. Figueroa was a member of the Honors College Program and was very involved in the UTSA music community. She studied voice as a Mezzo-Soprano under the instruction of both Linda Poetschke, and Dr. Susan Olson as well as participated as a member of both the UTSA Chamber Singers and Concert Choir. From 2017-2019, she served as the undergraduate intern for the Children's Chorus of San Antonio and received the opportunity to conduct choral groups at the Tobin Center for Performing Arts. Ms. Figueroa was nominated as Wood Middle School's Campus Teacher of the year in 2024. This will be Ms. Figueroa's 5th year teaching Choir and 4th year teaching Musical Theatre at Wood.
