Mr. Ismael Borrego
This is Mr. Borrego’s sixth year serving as the orchestra director at "Tex" Hill MS. He is incredibly excited to continue working with the wonderful Hill MS faculty and looks forward to serving the Hill community by helping students cultivate a passion for music. As a performer, Mr. Borrego has served as a section violinist with the Laredo Philharmonic, Corpus Christi Symphony, Victoria Symphony, Symphony of the Hills, Mid-Texas Symphony, San Antonio Sinfonietta, the Mozart Festival Orchestra, and has served as a substite violinist with the San Antonio Symphony. Other engagements have included performances with touring ensembles such as the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, and performances featuring artists such as Placido Domingo, Wynonna Judd, and Wilson Phillips. He has also contributed in recording repertoire for string orchestra for Keiser Southern Music Publishing.
In addition to serving as the "Tex" Hill Orchestra Director, Mr. Borrego maintains a successful private violin studio where his students have won placements in the TMEA All-Region Orchestras, TMEA All-State Sinfonietta, TMEA All-State Symphony Orchestra, and the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America. His passion for teaching young musicians inspired his desire to pursue a career in music education. As an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, he frequently serves as an adjudicator for the TMEA All-Region and TMEA All-State Orchestras. He is also an active member of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association.
Mr. Borrego holds a degree in music performance from the University of Texas at San Antonio with an additional accreditation in K-12 music education. He hopes to inspire his students with a life-long love and appreciation for music and equip them with the tools necessary to excel beyond their time at "Tex" Hill.
