Mr. Cecil Lanoux

Mr. Lanoux has been a Texas resident his entire life, born in east Texas, raised in central Texas, educated in Texas' capitol city as well as here, in one of its oldest. This education has provided Mr. Lanoux with a wide range of employment: staff member for a Texas State Senator, researcher for the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park, staff member for the San Antonio Conservation Society, and project manager for the Land Heritage Institute where he cared for a 19th century farmhouse and outbuildings.  The sports Mr. Lanoux has played/s and activities with which he has been and remains involved, are the products of influential travel experiences and a lifetime's curiosity about world cultures and far-away places. This combination of educational, professional, and recreational pursuits has contributed to Mr. Lanoux's varied expertise and knowledge base that makes him a perfect fit for the geography/social studies classroom. 

Mr. Lanoux's classroom teaching experience began in 1998 at Floresville Middle School, teaching Texas History and US History while also managing the tennis program as head coach for both Floresville Middle and High Schools (winning a district title in Team Tennis, twice). Before starting with NEISD in the summer of 2002, Mr. Lanoux wrote and delivered as on-air-talent, a social studies curriculum/lesson series called "Get S.M.A.R.T. with Geography" for RegionXX Education Service Center.  This was a televised collection of middle school geography lessons designed specifically for migrant farm worker's children as they followed their families north for harvesting jobs. 

Mr. Lanoux's teaching career with NEISD began at Bradley Middle School (starting a Geography Club introducing students to GIS), he helped open Harris Middle School, and continued into the uppper grades as he co-designed and implemented an integrated humanities curriculum for the STEM program at LEE High School. A brief pause in teaching allowed Mr. Lanoux to attend UTSA's College of Architecture, where he earned graduate certifcation in Historic Preservation, supplmenting a bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a teaching certificate from Texas State Univeristy. 

Returning to the secondary classroom in 2018, Mr. Lanoux has continued instructing students in both Advanced Placement and on-level geography classes.
