Julian Garza

Hello Volunteers!

Welcome back. I am excited to be returning to LEE for the 2023-2024 school year! This is my 7th year as an educator, and I am thrilled to be your English teacher. I am a San Antonio native, born and raised. I received my Bachelor's Degree from UTSA (Go Roadrunners!) and completed my Master's Degree from UTSA as well back in 2019. In my spare time I enjoy being with my pugs (Leila, Luna, Olive, and Willow), traveling to new cities, exploring local restaurants/businesses, reading novels, caring for plants, and spending time with close family and friends.

As your teacher, my experiences from my time as a student myself has shaped my philosphy regarding my craft. Thus, I seek to guide my students into discovering the opportunities that are available to them as learners, the power one's own voice can have in shaping their confidence, and how collaboration with peers leads to innovative ideas when shaping one's own perspective. Mental health is at the forefront of society these days and it's something I support deeply. In my classroom, I encourage students to work through and perservere over obstacles, which will lead them into conquering rigorous expectations within any setting. I strive to provide an environment where positive, meaningful relationships can develop, so kids can focus on making wise decisions that will help prepare them for life beyond high school.

Working in the educational setting is a worthwhile investment I’ve placed myself in because I get to be a part of something bigger than just me. Each student roaming these halls carries a unique story that I get to be a part of, which I cherish tremendously. Every day is not like the last and I enjoy being able to be a part of a team that collaborates in the best interests of our students, so we can shape young minds into becoming leaders of tomorrow. My ultimate goal is to provide my students a place where they can feel safe, have opportunities, and feel free to explore their individuality through creative expressions of knowledge. My mission is for children to become life-long learners who are able to demonstrate the qualities that not only set them apart, but also bring them together on this campus into what we call our community. I am here to support you, so please contact me for any assistance or questions you may have when necessary. I look forward to working with you all. Go Vols!
