Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  My name is Mrs. Carsten, and I am honored to be an educator here at Lopez Middle School. I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Trinity University. It is hard for me to believe that I am beginning my 28th year in education--and I believe more than ever, this is the greatest profession in the world!

Before coming to Lopez, I was a classroom teacher, a curriculum specialist, and most recently worked in the education department at the University of the Incarnate Word. My absolute first love is teaching.  This year I will be teaching 6th Grade GT-ELAR, 6th Grade Honors-ELAR, 6th Grade ELAR, and 6th Grade AIM. I am looking forward to an awesome year!
