Welcome fabulous students and parents! 

This is my 15th year of teaching, all here at LEE, where I teach AP World History, AP Macroeconomics, and AP US Government. I have also taught Regular U.S. Government, Regular and Pre-AP World Geography, and Economics. My goal is to be able to harness my past experiences traveling, living, and working in Europe, East and South East Asia, and Washington, D.C. with my love of working with students, especially the wonderful, sweet, awesome ones here at LEE!

I grew up in Southern California and earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a minor in French at the University of California at Davis. During college summers, I did internships that furthered my interest in foreign affairs and politics. I worked at The Institute for International Affairs, in Paris, France, doing research for the Director who was our former US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and our former Ambassador to Germany. I also worked as an intern in a Congressional office in Washington, D.C.

After college, I moved to Washington, D.C. where I worked for two Congressmen in the U.S. House of Representatives, handling various issues including foreign policy and defense. I then worked at the Brookings Institution's Center for Public Policy Education before attending The Johns Hopkins University’s School for Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where I earned a Master of Arts degree in International Relations and Japanese Studies. Afterwards, I worked for a Japanese Newspaper in D.C. and then at the International Trade Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce on a program designed to incorporate U.S. business interests into U.S. international trade policy. I also headed up a program that brought the Japanese Trade Minister and other officials from the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to Washington to dialogue with our Secretary of Commerce and other officials to further our trade relationship with Japan.

My husband Brian, a Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the UT Health Science Center, and I lived in the San Francisco Bay area for five years after we were married and have been here in San Antonio for over 25 years. We have three children: a son, Cameron, who is a Biomedical Engineer with Abbott Laboratories in Indianapolis, a daughter, Camille, who is a NICU nurse in Dallas, and a daughter, Nicolette, who is getting her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy here at the UT Health Science Center.

At home, I spend as much time as possible outside, exercising and gardening. My greatest joy is spending time with my family and friends.
