B.A. American Studies - University of Texas Minor in Foreign Languages M.A. History - University of Texas Special Education EC-12 Certification

Mr. J Carlos de la Garza Tamez

Welcome! I am very happy to be teaching Social Studies to a group of very special students at Lee High School. I graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a B.A. in American Studies, a minor in Foreign Languages and a M.A. in History. I hold the appropriate certifications from the State of Texas for Special Education EC-12. I absolutely enjoy working with students on history-related endeavors, and you can find me every year serving as a judge at the National History Day and Junior Historians of Texas History Fair competitions in San Antonio.

My teaching style consists of a multi-disciplinary approach incorporating not only Social Studies, but Literature, Music, and the Arts, as well. Our school's theme for this year is: "Now is the Time" and, for me, this means that every one of my students will shine academically and personally, and serve as a role model to all.

Parents, I look forward to working with you and your children. Should you have any concerns or questions please feel free to reach out to me by calling (210) 356-0800 and asking for the Special Ed department. Otherwise, please send me an e-mail and I will respond to you within 24 hours.
