Welcome Panthers!  I hope you are as excited as I am about all the new and wonderful opportunities that this year has in store.  During our year together we will be traveling the entire globe to learn about geography, world history, modern world cultures, and some of  the different civilizations past and present on our planet.  We will study culture, government, history, and economics along the way.  Students, you have been preassigned a Google classroom for your specific class period.  I will post a nine-week calendar there, agendas, copies of classwork and homework, reading packets, etc.  Parents cannot join the classroom, but you can print out a nine-week calendar for them so they know what we are doing.  

This is my 26th year of teaching and my 14th year here at Lopez Middle School teaching 6th grade social studies.  I taught 8 years at Hobby Middle School before joining the Bush staff for 3 years.  I then took a couple of years off to be a stay-at-home-dad before returning to the classroom (another year at Bush) and finally landing at Lopez MS.  

I graduated from Baylor University in 1990 and I am a huge Baylor fan! This is my 28th year of having football season tickets.  We enjoyed a wonderful season last year, culminating in a Sugar Bowl victory.  Our men's basketball team won the NCAA basketball Championship three years ago!  Looking forward to another great year for them this year.  Last year, I bought season tickets to Baylor Men's basketball!  This year we will open a new arena.  It is going to be a great year for my Bears!  

It was at Baylor that I met and married my wife, Lisa Walls. She is a teacher and Coach at Bush MS.  We have been married for 32 years and have one son that will be in his second year at NC State.  He is one of the greatest blessings of my life!
