Greetings! My name is Shannon Yrle, and I'm happy to be on the team at LEE. Though originally from New Orleans, I'm an NEISD graduate from MacArthur HS and consider myself a native of San Antonio. I went to Our Lady of the Lake University and worked in advertising and marketing before finding my calling as a teacher. I was a special education teacher in San Antonio ISD for 4 years after which I participated in the Peace Corps Masters International program at the University of Miami. As a Peace Corps Volunteer, I taught English at Neijiang Normal University in Sichuan, China, and conducted training for all levels of teachers from elementary to university. After my volunteer service concluded, I joined the staff of Peace Corps/China as TEFL Manager where I supervised training for our Education Volunteers. 

Being a Volunteer now takes on a new meaning for me. I'm excited to be working with our English language learners at LEE. There are many unique challenges that come when adapting to a new culture and learning a new language, even after several years.
