Ms. Shannon Yrle

Greetings! My name is Shannon Yrle, and I'm happy to be on the team at LEE. Though originally from New Orleans, I'm an NEISD graduate from MacArthur HS and consider myself a native of San Antonio. I went to Our Lady of the Lake University and worked in advertising and marketing before finding my calling as a teacher. I was a special education teacher in San Antonio ISD for 4 years after which I participated in the Peace Corps Masters International program at the University of Miami. As a Peace Corps Volunteer, I taught English at Neijiang Normal University in Sichuan, China, and conducted training for all levels of teachers from elementary to university. After my volunteer service concluded, I joined the staff of Peace Corps/China as TEFL Manager where I supervised training for our Education Volunteers.

Being a Volunteer now takes on a new meaning for me. I'm excited to be working with our English language learners at LEE. There are many unique challenges that come when adapting to a new culture and learning a new language, even after several years. I can relate to some of those challenges, and I hope to be a resource to our students and families. Please feel free to email me if I can help you with anything.
