NEISD cyber teams rank among best in the nation

Roosevelt High School has brought home the Mayor’s Cup for the fourth year in a row. They now advance to the national competition.

CyberPatriot programs at North East ISD give students insight into cybersecurity careers. The competitions tasks students with finding vulnerabilities within small business networks.

Roosevelt’s winning team is the Care Bears coached by Dalia Pulido. Members include Roselyn Schnabel, Julian Peña, Francisco Rodríguez Vara, Tristan Lee and Seyma Kilic. iCSI instructor Josh Beck serves as their mentor.

Team with award

Each student on Team Care Bears received $1,000 for the win and the highly-coveted Mayor’s Cup bomber jacket. Senior Tristan Lee has been on the winning team all four years of his high school career. Because of Tristan’s dedication, he will be receiving the “All American” award at the CyberPatriot National Finals.

Along with the money and recognition, each team member has been offered a 4-year college internship with Booz Allen Hamilton. The internship will give the students a top-secret clearance after graduation. Earning that clearance is difficult and expensive. So, being offered this level of clearance will make these students stand out as they search for jobs after graduation.
