Hello Bulldog Family,
I am excited to work with an amazing community, and I believe we are at the best middle school in San Antonio.
In 2003, I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I'm highly certified to teach Math and Science. In 2010, I earned my Master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Grand Canyon University.
Over the years, I have worked hard to become an exceptional teacher. Usually, you will find me involved in some kind of project, professional development, or other activity that allows me to continually work towards my goals. Some of my contributions in the past are the development of a scope-and-sequence for YISD, Gear-Up (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs: Summers of 2004-2007), and NJHS (2008-2013). My most exciting experience is when I was accepted into the NASA program for educators in the summer of 2007 in Huntsville, AL. I had a blast!
For the past 4 years, I have been involved with the Alamo Stem Workforce Coalition whose focus is to bridge the gap between business and education. My summers are filled with site-visits to businesses across the city and planning how to better prepare our children for their future endeavors. In the summer of 2019, my goal is to train teachers across San Antonio and the surrounding school districts to develop their ability to integrate Problem-Based learning experiences into their classroom as well.
Currently, I am working on earning a few digital badges from NEISD. In 2019, I have earned two badges, and I am waiting on approval of two more soon. I strive to be awesome at everything I choose to be.
Beyond education, I am a mother of three amazing daughters (ages 18, 11, and 9), and we have a sweet little dog named Harmony. In our free time, we enjoy camping, creating crafts, and exploring the world around us.
