The University of the Incarnate Word: Bachelor of Arts in History Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies Texas Certification: Grades 1 - 8

Miss Jo Ann L. Raths

I became a teacher because I love the learning and teaching process.  My favorite moment that I LIVE for is the "light bulb" moment when a student fully understands a concept and they "get it".  My classroom environment is structured and disciplined for student's calm, safety, and learning.

I am available to all my students and parents by email and Remind. I have created an account in Remind for my 6th grade students and an account for my 6th grade parents.  Please, do not sign up for both.

For relaxation and inspiration, I like to watch TV/movies, read books, and spend time with my family and friends.  I am a graduate of Southwest High School, San Antonio, TX and a graduate of The University of the Incarnate Word.  I have two bachelor's degrees:  History and Interdisciplinary Education (middle school education).  I am certified to teach grades 1-8; history for grades 6-8.  The 2024-2025 school year is my 27th year of teaching and my 20th year at Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School.  This school year I am teaching 6th grade Social Studies.
