Mrs. Celeste Astorga

Celeste Astorga was born and raised in Southern California. She moved to San Antonio in 2008, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2015. Mrs. Astorga plays trombone and specializes in all brass and percussion pedagogy. 

While at UTSA, she studied trombone under Ron Wilkins and Dr. Steve Parker. She was part of many ensembles during her time there, such as, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and sang in the Women’s Choir! Mrs. Astorga was part of the Inaugural Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band in 2011, where she was section leader for the baritone/euphonium section. 

During the summer of 2011, she was a hornline member for the Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps and was on visual staff for Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2012. In 2016, Mrs. Astorga started off her teaching career in high school before moving to middle school. She has been with Northside ISD since 2019 and now will be joining us in North East ISD! During her career, she has gathered many resources on classroom management, pedagogy, and rehearsal techniques.

Outside of band, Mrs. Astorga enjoys traveling, doing needlepoint, and spending time with her husband, Rick and their two dogs, Heart and Lela. She loves Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Marvel, and anything related to Disney!
