Cole Ater, Penny Pim, Kayla Tony and Franny Santos
If you were able to participate in this year’s North East Educational Foundation Virtual Gala, then you are probably familiar with these four outstanding students. Cole, Penny and Kayla -- representing Tuscany Heights, Vineyard Ranch and Canyon Ridge elementary schools -- were chosen as the only student contestants in a trivia match held during the Gala. When the bright lights were on and hundreds watched, these three performed like seasoned pros. They were comfortable talking, guessing answers and making the audience laugh. Franny, from Castle Hills Elementary, served as the evening’s host. After auditioning and getting selected to fill this important role, she had many rehearsals to get familiar with 20-plus pages of script and she was great at reading the teleprompter to more than a thousand viewers at home. She was quick on her feet and focused on our mission of supporting students. Thanks to the help of these student leaders, the Foundation was able to raise more than $190,000 that evening
