Miguel Romero

Miguel is a senior at Churchill High School. He was elected by his peers to be the Prime Minister of their student government, called Parliament. Miguel reads the school announcements daily, and one day Miguel went to the principal because he was concerned that a group of emerging bilingual students were missing out on essential announcements each day. He asked if he could translate and read the most important announcements in Spanish. Now, the announcements are read in English, with the most critical messages in Spanish as well. Miguel also serves as a liaison for the student body to the principal. When decisions and changes were being made for homecoming, the advocacy of Miguel allowed for student voices to be heard and implemented.
