Over the summer, teachers Catherine and Amanda worked with refugee students in the Newcomer Program at Walzem Elementary. Catherine shared their experience with her friend Samantha who works for Region 20. Together, they came up with a plan. They organized a clothing drive, so that each child could have a bag of new clothes when summer school ended. They spent their own money and solicited donations. Ultimately, all 18 refugee children who attended summer school at Walzem went home with a bag full of essentials thanks to the kindness and generosity of Amanda, Catherine, and Samantha.
